Camping details

Postby Helwith Boy » Sun Sep 19, 2010 5:25 pm

I have had a flurry of camping enquiries in the past 48 hours, and just thought that I'd mention a couple of things in here in case anyone is thinking of camping.

The camping in the finish field will actually be in our adjacent field, which is slightly further away from the pub but where there is ample space for tents. The camping is for tents only, there is no vehicular access to the finish field other than for official race vehicles. There simply isn't the space and since the only access is where the bikes come into the finish tent it's very awkward for vehicles. If you've been before you'll understand, if not then send me an email if you want to use a caravan or motor home. I wouldn't want anyone to be disappointed, but caravans, trailer tents and motor homes cannot come into the field, but there is a large picnic area across the road which can be used. This might get fairly full, so if you want to make use of it try and arrive before it gets dark on Saturday. There are no facilities in this picnic area, there is a tap by the pub and in our field and there will be 5 Porta loos in addition to the pub toilets.

Helwith Bridge is a very small rural hamlet of only 10 houses and the pub - the arrival of over 500 competitors, their vehicles and families is quite a challenge for the infrastructure of the area but we usually manage with your co-operation.

All we need now for a good race is for the rain to stop !
