Training Day

Postby APJ78 » Tue Aug 02, 2011 10:11 pm

Hi folks,
Does anyone know if there is a training day this year, like the ones previously that have started and finished from Buckden?

Cheers for the reply John,

Unfortunately it clashes with an open time trial our club are running, its only right I help them and give something back.
Hope to make it along next year instead.

Regards Andy

Sounds interesting. What goes on at a Training Day? Is it just a ride of the legal parts of the course?

Cheers, Duncan

The Training Day is from Buckden and this year will not go on any of the 3 Peaks route. It will go from Buckden to Semer Water to the Roman Road to Fleet Moss to Gayle up the Pennine Way and on to half a mile before High Birkwith then to the forest at High Greenfield then down the road to Buckden. The above route may be extended by continuing to High Birkwith and Horton, left at the Crown Hotel following the track to High Greenfield.
The total distane 41 miles (26 off road and 15 on roads). The route may be shortened for slower riders.

It was a great day, even if cold on the tops! Wish I could have ridden but my knee's not right. Still, was enjoyable to watch, and let's hope I'll be fit for the Peaks.

Thanks to John and all concerned for a great day out

Hopefully, I have used up my puncture quota, having "enjoyed" 3 yesterday (3 more than in the previous 12 months)

Very grateful to those who waited for me in good humour

In summary, a fabulous day out
