Fistly can I say a big well done to all the marshalls out on the road.Everyone was very professional and the event as a whole is a credit to cycling. As this was my first time supporting a rider I didnt know what to expect and I am not claiming to be perfect either. The majority of cars were parked in accordance with instructions but the situation at Ribblehead was potentially dangerous and could have impeded riders . I am referring to the selfish drivers who parked on the Horton road at the T junction ,where the verge is deliberately raised to discourage parking.Even this did not stop some idiots leaving their cars half on and off the road on both sides. So when a coach came from Horton direction it completely filled the available space and created a trafic jam for several minutes. This was then compounded by a farmer towing a sheep trailer trying to get through as well. i dont think any one was seriously delayed but it could have been quite serious.Next year could "no parking "bollards be put in place to stop parking at the junction, plus a note in the support car instructions. If anyone reading this recalls parking there, next time think of others. Its not a long walk from the quarry road , and I managed to do it carrying spare wheels and drinks etc. It only needs one driver to complain to the police or one accident to happen to put the whole event in jeapordy.
