What's the best pressure for Land Cruisers?

74 psi, precisely.

I weight bang on 11 stone and after much experimentation have found this pressure gives me the best combination of speed, grip and puncture resistance. Doesn't give me much in the way of comfort though!

I've had issues with them popping off the rim if i run them at more than 65. Has anyone had this problem (I'm running Fulcrum 7s)?

I'm 12 stone but i don't think that's relevant to them popping off.

It sounds like your rims are to narrow i had the same problem when on Off road duatlon&a MTB enduro on my crossers
I learnt my lesson , My bikes have 19mm rims on at the moment with 35c tyres never had a prob since

Thanks for the advice, the tyres are currently on Mavic rims and have not popped off yet, maybe they will as I reach the summit of PYG, if I make it that far!

I am really stuck over this one as I find it so uncomfortable to ride at high psi off-road. I am about 10 1/2 stone so i reckon I can get away with a bit lower PSI. Unfortunately not remotely rocky around here so not much chance of snakebite-testing....

I am going to ride Landcruisers on Mavic AKSIUMS -officially they should only have 32mm tyres but the landcruisers are 35 mm. Has anyone tried this combo?

FWIW I've spent the last few weekends bumping over a fair amount of rocky terrain on Mavic Aksiums with 35mm Continental Speed Kings pumped to c. 70psi. This included the bottom section of PYG, the Penmachno MTB trail and an easy route round Llandegla. No problems at all but I do only weigh 9st 2lbs.

Rode last year on Mavic Aksiums with Landcruisers - 65 psi in the back and 60psi in the front - no problems. I was 12.5 stone last year (planning to be lighter this year). I wouldn't put more pressure in than the tyres are rated for - there alway seems to be a burst inner tube in the first couple of miles on the road.

I used Askiums last year ( I think) if not another similar sized mavic rim with landcruisers. I had about 85psi in and weighed at the time 92kg and like the year before had no problems and I decsended from PYG reasonably fast . 23 minutes in 2010 and 24 minutes in 2011. I think the exploding inner tubes are those that haven't riden them hard before hand. If you can, race a cross race in the next 2 weeks with them whilst it is still dry. Silcoates used to be an ideal venue but no longer used, Northallerton would be fine unless it is boggy. You won't win that race but you will be more confident about your tyres for the big race.

Rode Aksiums a couple of years ago with LC's, no problems. Weigh around 12 stone & have never put more than 65/70psi in. I always put the exploding tubes at the start down to too much pressure put in - they always seem to occur at the first bend, when maybe they deform after not being properly 'seated'.
